Playing safe as to not lose your hard-earned trophies is always an option. But when and why should you go for a draw?

There are those times when you meet your exact match--someone who's as skilled as you and it looks as if he's not going to back down. You strive to push toward his Crown Towers and smash them, but you just can't since he always seems able to come up with a counter to all the offense you're doing.

Some still prefer to take a chance and exhaust all their cards and Elixirs despite knowing that there's a big enough chance that the opponent can counter their attacks, find a hole in their defense, and smash one tower in an instant.

Conversely, other players choose to play for a draw.

The following are some things to consider when deciding whether to continue pushing or just accept a draw.

Trophies

The main reason why some Clash Royale players tend to play for a draw instead is to preserve their trophy count. When you lose a battle, your trophies go with it as well. This is why some advanced players prefer the "wait and see" approach where they just try to defend their Crown Towers to avoid losing.

I think a major difference between players that are able to push far in trophies and players getting stuck at a trophy range, is the understanding that when you have a deck that counters yours, you're outmatched, outleveled, or you've made mistakes early game, you need to start playing for a draw.

As such, beginners have no fear of losing hundreds of trophies because they do not have that much (or anything) to lose. They are the ones who are brave enough to keep pushing to win trophies and obtain chests that can help them level up and reach higher Arenas. However, if you are an intermediate or advanced player, it would be beneficial to take good care of your trophies by letting the match end in a draw.

1-Crown Victory

While a stalemate is acceptable, some are lucky enough to land a more desirable situation where they get to destroy one of the opponent's towers either in the beginning or toward the end of the match. If this happens to you early in the game, you might want to switch to a full defensive strategy to prevent the risk of getting a draw or losing two of your towers in the wink of an eye due to carelessness and overconfidence.

Control, Then Attack

Another feasible option is to remain defensive for the first half of the match, while waiting until your opponent makes one mistake he'll surely regret.

While the above shows that there are multiple ways to ensure that you don't lose a single trophy, there are still those who can't see the point of accepting a stalemate.

Cons

In so many matches I leave infuriated because I was very close to defeating an opponents tower, or I had the right cards for a setup and it goes to a draw. Or even if I am having fun with a challenging opponent and I want to see who wins, it ends up drawing. Drawing adds no depth, doesn't reward you with anything and you leave with a sour taste in your mouth, so why is it a thing? I get that it makes sense on paper but when you're actually playing it's very annoying.

Personally, I often resort to the 1-Crown Victory strategy stated above. How about you? Would you prefer to play safe and go for a draw rather than mindlessly pushing for a perfect 3-crown win?
