The game’s current meta is being filled with beefy tanks. Like seriously…

The Hog Giant combo is not a rare combo since Clash Royale started to get populated with this strategy. With the pressure that any of these two can do respectively, countering them will bring headache once the game reaches its final minute.

Deck Strength:

Jam-packed with a great mixture of cards, this Giant Hog deck can wreck any kinds of decks if played wisely. You can deploy different kinds of team-ups, countering enemy’s move precisely. This deck is best against spawner, Hog, and RG decks being seen today.

Card Roles:

  • Giant: This beefy tank can be played early or late in this deck. Depending on the first cycle of your cards, the Giant can execute big pressure if dropped after defending your base. In that way this beefy tank can directly access the targeted tower easier. Pair it with any cards to counter troops accordingly.
  • Hog Rider: The Hog Rider can be paired with any other troops in this deck. Just like the Trifecta deck, this unit is unstoppable once teamed up with the Valk Musk combo.
  • Valkyrie: Her AoE and mini-tank ability is her best asset in the game. Can deal with any kind of ground units fairly. Best against horde of Barbarians or beefy tanks who plan to wreck your crown towers. Can also be a great distraction to any incoming troops.
  • Musketeer: The Musketeer’s range and DPS is enough to bring havoc in this deck. Must be placed behind frequently to avoid direct contact from the opponent’s troops. Can be very deadly if left ignored.
  • Goblins: These stabby green guys will serve as your Hog Rider’s main supporters. Goblins will be a good elixir trade against tanks such as Royal Giant, Golem and the like. They can also take down range troops easily. Wait them to lock their target first before deploying the said units.
  • Poison Spell: This spell can be used effectively in either offense or defense. From the past update, the Poison Spell can now affect the production of elixir from the Collector Unit. Best used against horde of Minions, Barbarians and low HP troops.
  • Zap: Its mini stun and critical damage against a lot of troops is one of the reasons why it is still being used today. Killing low HP troops easily to support your Hog Rider will give it extra blows against its target.
  • Cannon: Your main defensive unit in this deck. Place it according to your opponent’s behaviour. To deal against Hog Riders, Royal Giant and the like, check this article How to Counter the Giant Combo.

Clash Royale Strategy:

Try to make an early pressure by using the Hog Rider Goblins duo. This will force the enemy to counter your move. Cast the Zap Spell to help your Hog Rider smash a tower once or twice to any troops dropped by your enemy. This will then give your Goblins some seconds to somehow weaken these units.

After the initial push, prepare your Valkyrie or Musketeer to kill any troops swiftly. Place the Cannon wisely if a beefy tank is coming. Then support it with your Musketeer to provide extra hits. Use the Valkyrie to kill ground troops while also the Poison Spell if air units were used.

In the first two minutes of the game, you can make a simple combo with the Hog Goblins or the Valkyrie Musketeer duo. With this, your enemy will be forced to use their elixir. This will put you in an advantage position once they exhausted their elixir to one of your first combos. Utilize the Poison Spell if the enemy drops a Hut or an Elixir Collector. This can only be done early in the game. Make sure to have the Zap Spell in your hand to counter the Minion Horde if there’s any. The Poison Spell can also be useful if your Cannon is not available. Place it near the river if a potential push is seen. Try countering them early, solely against decks with bulky HP troops.

Once the game reaches its final minute, you can now make the Giant Hog Rider combo. The ideal strategy is to drop your Giant near the King Tower. Choose the lane wherein the enemy’s tower has a lot more HP than the opposite. Before it reaches the river, it is expected that counter troops were ready to stop it. You can now deploy the Hog Rider Goblins in the opposite lane. While your Hog attacks the other lane, drop the Poison Spell in front of the Giant. This is to slow down and annihilate enemies effectively. After demolishing a tower, defend your base appropriately.

Deck Weakness:

This deck might have a difficulty dealing with air decks. Aside from the Musketeer, the Poison is the best card to deal with the Minions or Lavaloon types of deck. If you are facing this kind of deck, you can try to make a counter move in the opposite side quickly. This will force them to counter any of your early pressures weakening their main troop’s push.

This deck is currently a useful deck in the game’s current meta. Aside from the Royal Giant deck in upper arenas, the Giant is mostly used as well. From my experience, dealing with these two cards alone(Giant and Hog) is real hard once the pressure starts.

Special thanks to CLASHwithSHANE for this deck.
