Knowing what card is the most popular in the arena can give you an advantage. It can tell you what meta is currently dominating the scene. Just like the picture above, the Zap spell is pretty much popular, halting your Sparky and Inferno Dragon push. The information you'll get can aid you in creating a new deck that can counter the game meta.
The Zap spell is on the top spot. Due to high use of Sparky and Inferno Dragon decks on high arenas, having this spell is almost a requirement. A high level Zap can blast level 8 even level 9 Minions and Minion Horde for just 2 elixirs. A cheaper alternative for Arrows.
The Skeleton Army lands on the second spot. It was buffed on the October 10, 2016 update giving it an additional 5 levels up and lesser elixir cost. To compensate the stronger and cheaper Skeletons, they also reduced the number from 21 Skeletons to 16. It didn't stop players from using this horde of Skeletons, especially more and more people are using Giants, Golems, and even P.E.K.K.As.
Because of the dawn of the Giants and the tanker + push + support strategy being back, Fireballs are also back. It is also a great spell card against counter troops such as the Barbarians. Pair it with the Tornado and your opponents troops are toast!
Tougher than your regular Minions but moves slow. The Mega Minion is usually paired with tankers, since tankers are blind against flying units. It is also sturdier than Minions since it can not be Arrowed down. You can also use it for defense by luring your enemy with a Tombstone and use the Mega Minion to pick them clean.

The crowd favorite. His versatility and his focus towards the crown tower is still irreplaceable. For just four elixirs, he is well suited with other cards especially spell cards. Since the Graveyard is already out and about, Hog-Yard decks is a combo that you have to try.
The first legendary spell card that was released on the July 4th update. It was boo'ed down because it can only push back enemies dealing little damage. Supercell and the Clash Royale team are still trying to make The Log worthy of becoming a legendary card by buffing it on the October 10, 2016 update. They gave it a 9% increase on its damage plus a speed and distance buff. A lot of players took notice, and they've been using it ever since. A great card against the Princess for a good positive elixir trade.

The ultimate meat shield. The Giant has been there since the Training Camp. It has been helping players reach high arenas for just 5 elixirs. He is usually paired with a lot of troops, it can be a Hog Rider, Musketeer, even Archers. The possibility is endless when you have the Giant. Since the Inferno Tower has been nerfed and the Zap is becoming popular, the Giant will roam around the arena more.
This horde of Minions are flying through the Clash Royale Arena to rip towers, buildings, and troops to shreds! They are usually paired with Minions or the newly buffed Skeleton Army. Players usually use them to bait out Arrows and Zap spells to have them fly through the arena without being disturbed.
It is no wonder that the Zap and Skeleton Army are on the top of the list. They are the usual cheap counter troops in the game. A new balance update will come out November 30, 2016 and this list might be changed soon.
